POTTING SOILS / SEED STARTING MIXES

MIXING YOUR OWN SEED STARTING MIX

Many farmers mix their own seed starting soil mixes, using their own recipes. Common ingredients include: perlite, vermiculite, rice hulls, peat moss, coconut coir, compost, all-purpose fertilizers (like Harmony), worm castings, and azomite.

Suppliers of these soil mix components include: Seven Springs Farm Supply, local garden centers, farm supply stores, hardware stores, and online retailers.

Make sure that the particular products you purchase to mix your own potting soil are all allowed for use on organic operations.
